User Scales to Kronos (Remember to save your own Global setting)
....................
Hello all Kronos owners!
In 2015, I created a website that visualizes over 175 different tunings in several ways.
Having worked with these imperfections for so long, it became even clearer why musicians have tried so hard over time to create a system that can overcome the truly insoluble problems.
These videos show in a quite funny way what the problem really is; the pitch will fall or rise depending on the chord progression ..
All intervals are absolutely pure ! :
FALLING AND RISING
.....
For me, after finish this work, it became natural to find my contribution to Just Intonation (pure intervals).
Then more tones must be used than our usual 12.
I used Korg Kronos throughout the experimentations, in preparation and creating of IN TUNINGLAND. And I used it in the digital recordings.
A very great instrument for this, as it can have many tunings loaded at the same time and with its smooth transition.
Of course, it will be needed some efforts from you to understand the whole idea, but you as Kronos owners have the advantage that you can go straight to the practice by loading the tunings in the User Scale in Global Setting.
The link (PCG) contains only Global setting (25 K)!
They are located HERE (click!).
When switching between tunings /setups that you have to do in IT (but also as an advantage in the other tunings I attach) you can of course have the User Scale option in the combo or program visible, and switch there.
But the easiest in practical play is to create several Combis /Programs with each version of the tunings and make a Set List of them.
In addition to IN TUNINGLAND, I also give you the most important various Meantones and which you can play circulating (with a button click), which possibility old and new harpsichord players lacked and still lack.
I highly recommend to take a look. 1/6 comma is an especial mild and fine tuning !
And for you rockers : 2/7 (or 1/4) works very well for overdrive solo patches, so you can play thirds in them. Check it out, I have used this in blues by myself.
Besides, I give you the opportunity to experiment and get acquainted with 24 harmonics!
If you give all this some attention for a period of time, it can be a important background to understand our arrangement of the tones. It is also beautiful to play with pure intervals, even if it causes some efforts to play with them. (In Tuningland)
This video (click) I made 4 years ago that demonstrates some of the possibilities on Kronos.
I think that is an instructive video for you and what is possible on Kronos.
The last tuning in the video has not much to do with IN TUNINGLAND other than that both tunings have much pure intervals than our common equal temperament.
IN TUNINGLAND was not invented at that time.
Good luck with the exploration!
